Ego is a Latin word for “I,” often used as a psychoanalytic term denoting a particular part of the human soul, that part that defines the role of the intermediate between Id and reality or between Id and the superego.
Sigmund Freud‘s psychoanalytic theory has influenced thinkers such as Jacques Lacan, Julia Kristeva, and Luce Irigaray.
In fact, Freud is significant both in the contribution of his works to the understanding of crafts (for example, through his work on the interpretation of dreams) and in the influence that these writings have on other scholars. This requires a basic knowledge of some of Freud‘s key terms, but also more generally of psychoanalytic discourse.
