Zoosemiotics is a branch of semiotics, focused on Zoosemiosis. The term Zoosemiotics was coined by Thomas Sebeok in 1963. The term was defined as follows:
A discipline that is a part of semiology, the main focus of which is ethology, and the scientific study of the signals and behavior in and between animal species.
Ethology, on the other hand, is the scientific study of animal behavior, while etiology is dedicated to the study of socio-economic systems and cultural traditions, especially in societies, where modern technologies are not existing. Both ethology and etiology are crossing semiology in very important common points.
