Seme, sememe is a meaningful unit, or more specifically, the smallest meaningful unit. In structural linguistics, seeds are explained in terms of analogies with phonemes. This means that they are units defined in a system of relations, namely the oppositions.
The understanding of meaning is holistic, it places meaning, first and foremost, in language as a system of oppositions, not as individual units in themselves.
The word bat contributes to the work of the tongue not because of its internal qualities, but because of its distinctive difference from a cat, mat, or hat.
As a structure of language, the phoneme acquires its identity by distinguishing itself from other phonemes.
The sememe does the sememe.
