Ideas from social psychology can help us understand how people act in teams, and how they interact within organizations. Understanding the roles of individuals in groups is also important for creating team spirit and improving collaboration between employees. A good understanding of these issues can make a big difference in our day-to-day lives, especially in organizational set-ups to determine and cater to individual skills in a manner that brings members together to achieve the group’s full potential.

The same principles apply to other institutions, too, and theories about group dynamics and group cohesion can be applied to them. For example, we can study how groups work together and what motivates individuals within those groups. Social psychologists also examine these questions through the lens of organizational behavior and human factors engineering. We can look at how organizations interact with each other and the world around us, and how people behave within these environments.
